Getting started
What is Homeschool Factory?
Homeschool Factory is an all-in-one homeschool platform: AI tutors for every subject, a daily planner that runs itself, state compliance tracking for all 51 states, a scholarship and ESA finder, year-end portfolios, and a free curriculum marketplace — all in one subscription.
Who is Homeschool Factory built for?
Homeschool families at any stage — whether you pulled your first kid from school last week or have been homeschooling for years. Every faith is welcome. Every state is covered. The platform works for one kid or several.
Do I need any technical experience to use it?
None. You set up your family profile, add your kids, and the platform builds a daily plan for you. The AI tutors work like a text conversation — your kid types a question, the tutor responds. State paperwork is generated automatically.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Your card is required at signup but nothing is charged until day 4. Cancel anytime before that — no charge, no questions.
What happens after the trial ends?
After 3 days your plan auto-activates and your card is charged the monthly price for the tier you selected. You can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. There is also a 7-day money-back guarantee after the trial converts.
Pricing & billing
How much does Homeschool Factory cost?
Three plans: Solo ($9/month, 1 student), Family ($19/month, up to 4 students), and Tribe ($29/month, unlimited students). Every plan includes full access to every feature — the only difference is how many kids you can add. Annual plans are available at a discount.
What is included in the Solo plan?
The Solo plan ($9/month) supports 1 student and includes: 1 student, Two full parent accounts, no extra cost, Every subject agent, State portfolio + transcripts, Daily plan + records, Funding finder, Marketplace access.
What is included in the Family plan?
The Family plan ($19/month) supports up to 4 students and includes: Up to 4 students, Two full parent accounts, no extra cost, Multi-kid daily plan view, Cross-family compliance bundle (one state portfolio for all kids), Every subject agent, Funding finder + ESA tracker, Marketplace seller, Earned-help controls per kid.
What is the Tribe plan?
The Tribe plan ($29/month) is for large families with 5 or more kids. It adds sibling-aware planning, mom-mode dashboard, bulk state filings, and priority support — plus everything in the Family plan.
Is there a referral program?
Refer a friend who joins on an annual plan — you each get 1 month free. Stack it: 12 referrals = a free year. Your code goes live the moment you start your trial.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Cancel from Settings → Billing at any time. Your access continues until the end of the billing period. No cancellation fees.
Can my spouse have their own account?
Yes. Every family gets two full parent accounts at no extra cost — same subscription, no upcharge. Invite your spouse from Settings → Family by email; they get their own login with full access to the planner, records, lessons, and settings, exactly like you. Homeschooling takes two, so the second seat is built in. Two parents or guardians per family.
Do you offer annual pricing?
Yes. Solo is $79/yr per year; Family is $179/yr per year; Tribe is $269/yr per year. Annual saves roughly 20–30% versus monthly.
Compliance & state laws
Does Homeschool Factory cover my state?
All 51 states plus DC. Every state has a dedicated law page with plain-English requirements, deadlines, sources, and statute citations. The platform auto-generates portfolios and reports for whatever state you're in.
Is homeschooling legal in my state?
Yes — homeschooling is legal in all 51 states. Requirements vary: some states need a Notice of Intent, some require annual testing, some have no requirements at all. Check the State Laws section for your state's specifics.
What does Homeschool Factory generate for compliance?
The platform tracks attendance, lesson logs, and assessment results automatically. At year-end it generates a state portfolio, an annual report (where required), and an NCAA-compliant transcript for 12th graders — all from the records it kept during the year.
Do you handle Notice of Intent filings?
The platform identifies whether your state requires a Notice of Intent, shows you the deadline, and links directly to the filing page. Actual submission is done by the parent (states require a signature from the parent, not a third party), but we walk you through every step.
Does the compliance information come from lawyers?
State law pages are compiled by our research team and reviewed by homeschool parents and attorneys where available. Every page cites the primary statute and official government sources. This is information, not legal advice — for specific legal questions, consult an attorney in your state.
Tutors & curriculum
What subjects do the AI tutors cover?
There are 27 subject tutors covering: Math (with Singapore Math and Beast Academy support), Reading, Writing, Science, History, Hebrew, Latin, Spanish, and more. Each tutor is trained specifically for its subject — they're not the same general chatbot with a different name.
How does the AI tutor differ from ChatGPT or a general AI?
Each tutor knows your kid's curriculum, their current level, what they got wrong yesterday, and where they're headed next. A general AI gives the same answer to every kid. Our tutors answer in context — they know if your kid is on Chapter 4 of Singapore Math 3B or in the middle of a co-op science unit.
Can I use my own curriculum?
Yes. You can log any curriculum — including boxed curricula, co-op classes, or your own materials — and the planner will schedule and track it alongside the platform's built-in tutors. The Marketplace also has curated third-party curricula you can browse and assign.
Is earned-help (Socratic mode) available?
Yes. Earned-help controls let parents decide whether a tutor gives direct answers or asks guiding questions first. You can set this per kid and per subject — so your 7-year-old gets warm scaffolding while your 14-year-old is pushed to think before receiving the answer.
Does the platform work for special needs learners?
Yes. There is a dedicated special-needs tutor who understands IEP-style goals, learning accommodations, and pacing adjustments. The planner supports flexible scheduling, and compliance tracking can be configured to match what your state expects for non-traditional learners.
Languages
What languages are available?
5 languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese. Each course uses a Duolingo-style lesson format — short daily drills, real vocabulary, no cringe. Lessons are built for homeschool kids, not adults studying for a business trip.
Are language courses included in my subscription?
Yes. Languages are included in every plan — no add-on fee. Your kids can work through any of the 5 language courses as part of their daily plan.
What age are language courses designed for?
The language courses are built for elementary-age kids (roughly grades 2-6) but work for any age. The vocabulary and pacing are approachable for a 7-year-old but not condescending to a 12-year-old.
Discovering the platform
Do you have tutors for every subject?
Yes. There are 27 subject tutors covering every major homeschool subject — Math, Reading, Writing, Science, History, Hebrew, Latin, Spanish, and more. Each tutor is trained specifically for its subject, not a generic AI with a different name. You can browse all subject tutors at thehomeschoolfactory.com/subjects.
How do I compare curricula before choosing?
Homeschool Factory's free Curricula Guide compares every major homeschool program side by side — strengths, weaknesses, costs, religious lens, and who each one is really for. Visit thehomeschoolfactory.com/curricula to browse by subject. You can also take the free Curriculum Fit quiz in the Parent Toolkit (no signup needed) to get a personalized match in 4 minutes.
What funding is available for homeschooling in my state?
Several states offer Education Savings Accounts (ESAs), vouchers, or grants that pay for homeschool expenses. The states with active programs include Florida, Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Iowa, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Visit thehomeschoolfactory.com/homeschool-funding-by-state to see what your state offers and how to apply. Inside the platform, Homeschool Factory matches your family to the specific programs you qualify for.
Safety & privacy
Is the platform safe for kids?
Yes. Every conversation a child has with a tutor is routed through a multi-layer safety system: a deterministic keyword filter, a moderation API, and a crisis protocol that knows how to respond to distress signals and when to notify a parent. Kids never interact with the general internet — they're always talking to a purpose-built tutor.
Is Homeschool Factory COPPA-compliant?
Yes. We implement COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) compliance for users under 13: parental consent is required before a child account is created, children's data is never used for advertising, and parents can view and delete their child's data from Settings → Privacy at any time.
Who can see my child's conversations with the tutor?
Only the parent on the account. AI tutors are private to the family. Conversations are not shared with third parties, not used to train external models, and not visible to other families or co-op members. Parents can review any session from the Activity feed.
Can I control what my kid sees in the platform?
Yes. Kid Mode restricts navigation to only the subjects and sessions the parent has assigned. The parent can set a PIN so kids can't exit kid mode without permission, and can configure which tutors are available per child.
What happens if my child types something concerning?
The safety system detects distress signals and follows a crisis protocol: it provides appropriate resources (including crisis lines), pauses the session, and notifies the parent's account. The protocol errs on the side of caution — a false positive is treated as a real signal until ruled out.
