Terms of Service

Last updated: August 13, 2026

These terms cover your use of Homeschool Factory. By creating an account, you agree to them. Questions: annie@thehomeschoolfactory.com.

Your account

You're the parent or guardian setting up the account, and you're responsible for what happens on it, including your children's use. Keep your login secure. You must be an adult to create an account.

Subscription, trial & billing

  • New accounts start with a 3-day free trial. A card is required to start it; you are not charged until the trial ends.
  • After the trial, your plan renews automatically (monthly or yearly, as you chose) until you cancel.
  • You can cancel anytime from Settings → Plan & billing. Cancellation stops future charges; you keep access through the period you've paid for.
  • Prices are shown at checkout and on our pricing page. We'll give notice before any price change.

Acceptable use

Use the app for your own family's homeschooling. Don't misuse it, attempt to break or overload it, resell access, or use it to harm others. The AI tutors are a teaching aid, not a substitute for your judgment as the parent and educator.

Your content

The schoolwork, plans, and notes you and your children create are yours. You grant us permission to store and process them to provide the service (see the Privacy Policy). You can export or delete your data anytime.

Safety

We screen messages for crisis signals and will alert you if something concerning surfaces in your child's use. This is a safeguard, not a guarantee — in an emergency, contact 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911 directly.

Text messages (SMS)

Our text program is called Homeschool Factory Alerts. Texting is optional and stays off until you turn it on.

  • Crisis alerts — if our safety system spots a crisis signal in your child's chat, we text you so you see it fast. This is the only text we send automatically. It reads: "Homeschool Factory: [your child's name] may need your attention now. Open the app to see what happened. If this is an emergency call 988 or 911."
  • Support replies — if you contact us for help, a real person on our team may text you back, the same way we'd return a call or an email.
  • Account notices — we may later add texts for things like a failed payment or a trial ending. We don't send these today.
  • No marketing. We never text you ads, promotions, or upsells.

How you opt in. Sign in, go to Settings → Notifications → Text messages, enter your mobile number, and tick the box for the kind of text you want — "Crisis alerts," "Account notices," or both. Both boxes start unticked, and neither can be turned on without a number from you. The crisis setting covers the whole family account — once it's on, every parent or guardian on the account who has saved a mobile number receives the crisis text, including anyone who didn't switch it on themselves. Any parent can remove their own number at any time.

The real opt-in screen at Settings → Notifications → Text messages: a phone number field and two UNCHECKED consent checkboxes, 'Crisis alerts' and 'Account notices', with the consent text describing what each does.
The actual opt-in screen, signed in at Settings → Notifications → Text messages. Both consent checkboxes start unticked; the phone number shown is a placeholder, not a real one.

How often. Crisis alerts only go out when something actually happens, so most families never get one. Nothing is on a schedule and nothing repeats.

How you stop. Reply STOP to any text and your carrier stops delivering our texts to that number. That block happens at the carrier, not in our app, so the setting in Settings may still show as on — switching it off there as well is the reliable way to stop. Turning texts off never turns off the crisis email or the in-app alert; those always send, and they are the primary way we reach you. The text is an extra.

Getting help. Reply HELP to any text, or email annie@thehomeschoolfactory.com — a real person answers.

Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Disclaimers & limits

The service is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we don't guarantee it will be error-free or meet every legal requirement of your specific situation — compliance information is guidance, not legal advice, and you remain responsible for your state's homeschooling requirements. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months.

Changes & contact

We may update these terms; we'll change the date above and notify you of significant changes. Continued use means you accept the updated terms. Reach us at annie@thehomeschoolfactory.com.
